Infrastructure Protection and International Security

The Graduate Diplomas in Infrastructure Protection and International Security combine the unique resources of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. We are offering two graduate diplomas. One is for professionals (Type 3) and the other is for graduate students in current graduate programs at Carleton (Type 2). Both deliver multidisciplinary programs designed to bring together the core principles of critical infrastructure engineering and multi-hazard threat risk assessment with an awareness of the policy framework in which security practitioners operate, and the policy options available to security practitioners.

Carleton University’s strategic location in Ottawa, the Nation’s Capital, provides an appropriate backdrop for those security practitioners, engineers and policy advisors who seek advanced studies in critical infrastructure protection (CIP). All CIP policy and program direction for Canada’s 10 National Critical Infrastructures (NCIs) are centered in the National Capital Region, where students will have access to officials from government departments, as well as leaders from private industry and non-governmental organizations. Carleton maintains strong professional ties with those departments and agencies charged with protecting our NCIs.
